"Upgraded" connection speed?
There are numerous wireless broadband access service
providers (SPs) in the country now. One of these SPs
or more likely to be called as TMNet Streamyx, has the
packages for residential subscribers at 384kbps and
512kbps connection speeds. If I am not mistaken, in the
late 2004, TMnet announced that the 512kbps package
will be automatically upgraded to 1Mbps. Yup! It was then
my friends told me that the new packages started from December 2004.
BUT!!!! Strangely enough, after the 'upgrade', speeds that were about half
of 512kbps were experienced and also, the connection had become 'unstable'
at different times of the day and on different days (and even
disconnected from the internet unexpectedly). Hehehehehe...
TMNet insisted that it has been upgraded to 1Mbps. When responding,
TMNet also stated that the residential package is on best effort
basis and that the connection speed will be close to 1Mbps if tested with their
internal speed test utility. What the hell? Based on their explanations...
does it means the 'promised' 1Mbps connection speed is only possible
within their network???? wah lau eee... like this also can ar? Malaysia Boleh!!!
sigh...
